The RAM Did It…Again

Impressive, stunning, a leap forward, the best truck in history, are all ways you could describe the 2014 Ram 1500.  Or you could simply sum it up the way the experts at Motor Trend did; the 2014 Ram 1500 is the 2014 Truck of the Year.

The announcement was made at the Chrysler Group LLC Warren Truck Assembly Plant in Michigan, the birthplace of Ram Trucks.  The Ram went in head to head with eight other Truck of the Year contenders.  All of the trucks were put through an extensive battery of testing designed to evaluate virtually every aspect of each vehicle.

Other contenders included the Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra, Toyota Tundra and the GMC Sierra, all of whom came up embarrassingly short of the game-changing Ram.  Testing was held at the Continental Tire Automotive Proving Grounds in Uvalde, Texas where judges tested each truck’s performance in speed, handling, towing and payload capacity, and road looping.

The votes cast were overwhelmingly supportive of the Ram, crowning the 2014 Ram 1500 as the Motor Trend Truck of the Year, making Ram the first truck to ever win the coveted award in consecutive back-to-back years.

The 2014 Truck of the Year was chosen by how the Ram 1500 held up to the following criteria: Design Advancement, Engineering Excellence, Efficiency, Safety, Value, and Performance of Intended Function.  The judges were impressed with the performance of the Ram 1500’s all-new EcoDiesel V-6 engine and its eight-speed TorqueFlite transmission, a combination that boasts a towing capacity of up to 9,200 pounds.  Furthermore, Motor Trend’s Real MPG testing supported what the team learned in Uvalde: None of the gas-powered half-ton trucks in this year’s competition – be they V-6 or V-8, 4x2 or 4x4 – could match the EcoDiesel’s mileage.

RAM Tough (Yet Tender) Cleaning Tips

You’re a RAM Truck owner, you own the toughest truck available on the market.  You can use it to haul dirt, tow trailers, load it down full of tools, tailgate football games, and any other awesome manly thing you can think of.

But sometimes you have to use it for transportation on “date night.”  And if you’re not careful going on a date with your wife or girlfriend often means you’ve got to take off your work boots and put on “fancy” clothes, trim up that beard and comb your hair, and even more unthinkable, clean your truck.  Washing the dirt, the proof how hard your RAMs been working can make you feel less like the rogue, tough, lone-wolf that you are and if you’re not careful it can hurt your RAMs feelings (it knows you’re parking it in the movie theatre lot while you go watch a romantic comedy).

Don’t worry, there’s ways to make your truck shine in preparation for a date while feeling as manly as possible.  Here are a few tips courtesy of Huffines Chrysler Jeep Dodge Plano.

First step, when your RAM sees that bucket of soap and water, it’s likely to get offended.  What’re you gonna do, light some scented candles to go with it?  After all it’s not a Prius, it doesn’t need a bubble bath.   Best way to make it more comfortable, dump in some Tabasco Sauce.  That should make that bubble bath a little more manly.

Now you’ve got your tabasco bubble bath, next step is to make sure you appear manly when you’re scrubbing away.  Perhaps now is a good time to dress like a football player.  And hook up that iPod to blast some Motley Crue, and don’t forget to belch load and often.  You should also scream catch phrases from your favorite action movies.  Now that’s how a man cleans his truck.

Last, but not least, applying wax.  When you inform your RAM that you’re going to wax it, it could get upset, what’s a man without some hair on his legs, or chest, or face… or back… pretty much anywhere except the top of the head.  

Man up the way you wax your truck, try eating some bacon while you do it, or T-Bone steaks, pretty much any meat.  Avoid vegetables and diet drinks at all costs.
